FAQs

What kinds of problems do you help with?
We help with most physical problems that occur after illness or accident. But we’re not content with just helping you make your muscles stronger, or improving your balance (that’s a given). We also want to help you get back to participating in the activities you valued before your accident or illness, activities that have become inaccessible to you because of reduced strength, balance and muscle control or because of pain.

Do I need a referral from a Doctor?
No. You do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist. However, insurance companies sometimes require a doctor’s referral before they will reimburse cost.

What happens at the first session?
We will assess your condition and provide recommendations for treatment. All programs are developed individually for you, based on the assessment.

For your initial assessment please bring
• loose clothing, e.g. shorts, track suit so that we can assess you properly
• medical reports from your doctor and /or specialist
• information about your insurance coverage.
Many insurance companies will now accept on-line billing for Physiotherapy.

Why should I choose a Physiotherapist?
Choosing a physiotherapist means that you choose your own independent management of mobility problems, such as reduced balance, strength or endurance, reduced muscle control or chronic pain.

Physiotherapy is a primary health care profession that promotes wellness, mobility and independent function. It is a powerful tool to help you get back to participating in your favourite activities.

Can you provide me with extra Physiotherapy in my retirement home or hospital?
Yes we can, if there are no infection control regulations preventing access and with prior agreement from the facility you are in. We work with the physiotherapists already providing service to you to ensure that our intervention is benefiting you.

How long will I need Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is about making people physically independent. Treatment frequency and length vary depending on your diagnosis. We will discuss this with you on your first visit.

I need more than just Physiotherapy. I need other professionals like a Speech Language Pathologist or an Occupational Therapist. Can you help?
Yes, we can.  We often work with other rehab professionals. We can pass their names and contact information along to you. Or, if you prefer, we can talk to them directly about your needs.

I'm at home, waiting to start OHIP Physiotherapy, but I don't know how long it will be. Can you help?
Yes. We can provide you with an assessment and short-term intervention to suit your needs until you begin OHIP physiotherapy.
